Apartments in Fjörður Now for Sale and Shops Opening Soon

More Life Coming to Fjörður

A magnificent sight greeted the mayor when he recently visited Fjörður to view the ongoing development. The opening of new shops is drawing near, and the 31 luxury apartments there are already on the market. Valdimar Víðisson says the changed appearance of the heart of Hafnarfjörður will strengthen the town center.

“This is a big step for the town center. Here we are creating an environment that connects the old and the new and makes the downtown area an even greater attraction for residents and visitors. The center of Hafnarfjörður has always had a unique charm, but with this development, we’re bringing in new life and an exciting mix of housing and services that will strengthen the whole town,” says Valdimar.

Construction in Fjörður began nearly three years ago after many years of preparation. The project includes:

• 4,250 m² residential housing
• 1,100 m² hotel apartments (18 units)
• 1,600 m² retail space
• 550 m² multimedia center for the public library
• 1,200 m² underground parking
• Total: 8,700 m²

Guðmundur Bjarni Harðarson, managing director of Fjörður, accompanied the mayor on his tour of the site. “Construction is going well,” he says. The retail complex is expected to open before Christmas. “The apartments have only been on sale for about two weeks, and I can say the sales are off to a strong start,” he adds.

The Library in Fjörður

Valdimar is especially excited about the relocation of the Hafnarfjörður Library to Fjörður, where it will be transformed into a multimedia center for residents and visitors. “The library will be the heart of culture and learning in the town, a vibrant space for all age groups, a space where people can meet, learn, create, and enjoy being together.”

The mayor has been visiting businesses around town to learn more about their operations. He says it’s important to hear directly from those running businesses in Hafnarfjörður. “It’s very important to me to visit local businesses and see the diverse and dynamic work happening there. You can see the energy, creativity, and collaboration that make Hafnarfjörður such a special place.”
