Grants for cultural activities – Second allocation of 2024

Event and project grants

Twice a year, the Culture and Tourism Committee of Hafnarfjörður advertises grants for cultural activities and the promotion of Hafnarfjörður’s cultural life. The goal is to support cultural activities in accordance with the town’s policy and to support individuals and associations in the creation of art and culture. Artists, NGOs, institutions or cultural events must be connected to Hafnarfjörður in some way; with permanent residence, by the event taking place in Hafnarfjörður or by introducing the cultural activities of Hafnarfjörður to others. Grants are not provided for travel, studies and operations. The application must include the following:

• Purpose, description and motive of application
• Grant amount
• Time and project budget
• Other financing
• Cost budget

The Culture and Tourism Committee evaluates applications according to the objectives of the projects and how they can be used to strengthen the diverse cultural life of the town’s residents and Hafnarfjörður´s many artists. The feasibility of the project, cost estimates, as well as the time and project schedule is taken into account. It is possible to apply for a cooperational agreement for longer or recurring projects for up to three years.
