HHH meets at Aldan on Thursdays

LGBTQ+ meetups at Aldan this winter

The first HHH meeting will be on Thursday, October 23d from 19:30 to 22:00 at the youth center Aldan in Öldutúnsskóli. The group will meet every Thursday evening throughout the winter.

Berglind Rún Torfadóttir, HHH program manager, says the schedule will be varied this winter. At the first meetings, plans for the season will be set. “There will be game nights, all kinds of pool tournaments, and we will definitely go on an ice skating trip. Mainly, the program is to strengthen the group, meet people, and be ourselves. We encourage everyone to come and welcome all.”

HHH for grades 8–10

HHH is moving from Setbergsskóli to Öldutúnsskóli. The meetings are intended for youth in grades 8–10 who identify as LGBTQ+ in some way, are exploring their identity, or are interested in LGBTQ+ issues. The goal is for the participants to feel safe, welcomed, and have the opportunity to thrive.

“It’s important that the HHH group stays close-knit. We want LGBTQ+ programs for youth in Hafnarfjörður to be strong. It’s vital that we support each other,” says Berglind, taking on the role for the first time.

“I’m really looking forward to the winter and excited to meet everyone,” says Berglind. “Above all, we are here to strengthen the community; not stand alone but together in Hafnarfjörður.”
