On Tuesday, November 4th at 12:00, you are warmly invited to the next lunchtime concert at Hafnarborg, where baritone Aron Axel Cortes will be the guest of pianist and artistic director Antonía Hevesi. The concert, titled Ást sem klikkar, will feature arias from operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Wagner, and Gounod.

Aron Axel Cortes, baritone, began his vocal studies at the Reykjavík Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts, where he studied both singing and choral conducting, graduating in 2009. At the same time, he studied piano and composition at the Reykjavík College of Music. In 2009, he entered the Mozarteum University, first studying with Martha Sharp and later, from 2014, with Boris Bakow and Therese Lindquist, from whom he graduated with a master’s degree in Lieder and Oratorio in 2016. He had previously completed a master’s degree in opera from the same university in 2014. Since graduation, Aron Axel has taken private lessons with Helene Karusso in Vienna and has attended masterclasses with Kiri Te Kanawa, Kristinn Sigmundsson, Richard Stokes, and Clary Taylor. Among his stage roles are Don Giovanni in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, the Count in The Marriage of Figaro, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, and Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème.

Antonía Hevesi, pianist, has been the artistic director of the Hafnarborg Lunchtime Concert Series since its inception, bringing together many of Iceland’s leading vocalists. The lunchtime concerts are held, as usual, on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.

The concert begins at 12:00 and lasts for about half an hour. Doors open at 11:30, and admission is free while space allows.
