A Great Way to Spend the Winter Break in Hafnarfjörður

There will be a winter break in the elementary schools and the Hafnarfjörður School of Music on Monday, October 20th, and Tuesday, October 21st.

Swimming will be free during the winter break for elementary school students, and the town’s museums will offer exciting programs for children and their families. For example, the Hafnarfjörður Library will host a fun workshop on manga and character creation, and a new treasure hunt will be available at the Byggðasafn Hafnarfjarðar.

Hafnarborg invites elementary school children in Hafnarfjörður to join creative art workshops organized by the museum. These workshops are open to all children and their families who want to let their creativity flow and enjoy working with a variety of materials. Participation is welcome on either or both days.

• Halloween Tote Bag Workshop – Monday, October 20th, 13–15
  In this creative workshop, participants will have the chance to play with colors and design their own tote bag. The bag can be decorated, drawn, or painted according to one’s own ideas and can then be used for Halloween — for trick-or-treating or other autumn projects.
• The Multilingual Forest School (Escola Florestal) – Tuesday, October 21st, 13–15
  Artists Fernanda Fajardo and Anne Rombach will lead an art workshop for families in Icelandic, Portuguese, Spanish, English, and German. Participants will draw inspiration from the forest and create creatures from leaves, branches, and other natural materials in the spirit of autumn. The workshop is part of the museum’s program In My Language (Á mínu máli).
