New screen inaugurated in Ásvallalaug

Advent swimming tournament with lit candles

Hafnarfjarðarbær has presented a new and impressive display screen to Hafnarfjörður´s swimming association, that is already in active use and will be used as part of qualifying and presenting swimming tournaments. The new display screen was used for the annual Christmas tournament of SH (Sundfélag Hafnarfjarðar) and Fjörður, which was held on Saturday, December the 9th. On that occasion the display was formally handed over and inaugurated by Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, mayor of Hafnarfjörður. This tournament is a Christmas tradition of the swimming associations, where the tournament starts in the morning with a candle lit swim for younger swimmers.

Timing equipment and increased opportunities for dissemination

The new display screen and associated systems, open up great opportunities, including possibilities for promotion, live streaming and participation directly from the poolside at swimming tournaments. The timing equipment is of the same type as the system that was previously installed in Ásvallalaug, that the association had used for many years and tournaments. This is therefore a replacement and renewal of the equipment, as well a purchase of touchscreen devices in addition to the existing timer devices. Swimming clubs in Iceland all have a timing equipment of the same type, Quantum timing system.

The timing equipment is certified by FINA (International Swimming Federation) and is therefore a legal and valid equipment used in swimming tournaments around the world. The display screen can then be used by Ásvallalaug as a notification screen and for special events, such as movie screenings.

Congratulations SH on your new display screen and system!
