Children’s prosperity matters to all of us – Children’s Prosperity Week has begun

Services for children are now coordinated in support of children’s prosperity across preschools, compulsory schools and upper secondary schools in Hafnarfjörður. All children have the right to receive the services they need. However, it can be difficult to know where to turn for the right support. Hafnarfjörður has therefore appointed nine children’s prosperity coordinators in all its schools. They connect the relevant specialists and guide parents toward the appropriate resources.

Children’s Prosperity Week in the capital area is currently underway. Its aim is to highlight the new way of working that benefits children and to emphasize the importance of coordinated efforts by everyone who works with children and young people, as well as the positive developments that have followed the Children’s Prosperity Act.

• A dedicated website, hfj.is/farsaeld, has been launched where all information about the system can be found.

Parliament has passed new legislation on integrated services to support children’s prosperity. The main goal of the law is to ensure that children and parents who need it have access to coordinated, appropriate support without obstacles.

Integrated services mean that all service providers involved in a child’s case, both inside and outside the school system, may share relevant information with one another with the consent of the parents. Requests and information about integrated services can be obtained from the children’s prosperity coordinator in the child’s school, and both children and parents may ask for a meeting.
