Event and project grants

The Culture and Tourism Committee of Hafnarfjörður provides grants for cultural activities and the promotion of Hafnarfjörður’s cultural life twice a year, on 1st of March and 1st of October. Application deadlines are advertised on the website well in advance.

The aim is to support cultural activities in accordance with the town’s Cultural Policy and to support individuals and non-governmental organisations for artistic and cultural creation. Applicants or events must be connected to Hafnarfjörður in some way, such as through permanent residence, the event taking place in Hafnarfjörður or including the promotion of Hafnarfjörður’s cultural activities. Grants are not given for travel, studying and operations.

The Culture and Tourism Committee evaluates applications according to the objectives of the projects and how they are used to promote a diverse cultural life for the benefit of the townspeople and Hafnarfjörður’s artists. The feasibility of the projects and the budget, as well as the time and project schedule, are taken into account. You can apply for a co-operation agreement for longer or repeated projects for up to three years.

The application must include:

• Objective, description and reason for application.
• Grant amount.
• Timeframe and schedule.
• Other financing.
• Cost estimate.
