Electronic endorsement collection for the municipal elections 2026

The local electoral commission has opened electronic endorsement collection in Hafnarfjörður for candidacies in the municipal elections. The collection is open until April 10 at 12:00.

Creating an endorsement collection for a municipal election candidacy is done on Ísland.is

It is recommended that the lead candidate of each list create the endorsement collection on behalf of the list. Their name and date of birth will appear as the creator of the collection.

It is also permitted to collect endorsements on paper, but it is recommended that they be entered into the electronic system before the original paper copies are submitted along with the candidacy notification.

Each candidate list must include:

• Confirmation of the registered name and list letter of the political association.
• A signed statement from everyone on the list confirming that they have allowed their names to be included, either by handwritten signature or valid electronic signature.
• The names of two representatives.
• A list of endorsers, at least 80 and up to 160 voters in Hafnarfjörður.

The local electoral commission has opened electronic endorsement collection on Ísland.is and encourages candidate lists to use this option. Further information on electronic endorsement collection can be found at kosning.is.

If endorsements are collected on paper, the local electoral commission requests that the endorsement lists also be submitted in electronic form as an Excel file.

The deadline for submitting candidate lists for the municipal elections in Hafnarfjörður, which will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, is Friday, April 10 at 12:00.

On that day, the local electoral commission will be available in the Hafnarfjörður executive council meeting room, Strandgata 6, 2nd floor, from 10:00 to 12:00 to receive candidate lists.

The local electoral commission will hold a meeting at the same location on Saturday, April 11 at 12:00 to review and rule on the candidate lists and list letters, in the presence of the candidates.
