Event and Project Grants

Twice a year, the Culture and Tourism Committee of Hafnarfjörður invites applications for grants for cultural activities and the promotion of Hafnarfjörður’s cultural life. The aim is to support cultural activities in line with the municipality’s cultural policy and to strengthen individuals and organizations in artistic and cultural creation. Artists, associations, institutions, or cultural events must have a connection to Hafnarfjörður in some way, either through permanent residence, by the event taking place in Hafnarfjörður, or by promoting Hafnarfjörður’s cultural activities. Travel, studies, and operational costs are not funded. Applications must include the following:

• Objectives, description, and purpose of the application
• Requested grant amount
• Timeline and work plan
• Other funding
• Budget estimate

The Culture and Tourism Committee evaluates applications based on the objectives of the projects and how they contribute to a diverse cultural life for residents and local artists. Consideration is given to the feasibility of the project, the budget, and the timeline and work plan. Collaboration agreements for longer-term or recurring projects can be applied for up to three years.
