Hraunvallaskóli celebrates its 20th anniversary

Hraunvallaskóli in Hafnarfjörður celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday with a festive program at the school. The anniversary celebration marked an important milestone in the school’s history, as over these two decades it has established itself as a strong and ambitious primary school in Hafnarfjörður.

Valuable continuity from preschool to primary school

Hraunvallaskóli began operating in 2006 and has from the beginning emphasized a holistic school journey for children, where friendship, cooperation and responsibility serve as guiding principles in all school activities. The school is unique in that both a preschool and primary school operate within it, allowing children to begin their schooling young and complete it within the same school community. At the celebration, the principal of Hraunvallaskóli and the mayor of Hafnarfjörður gave speeches. In his address, mayor Valdimar Víðisson emphasized the significant success achieved in the school’s work and praised students, staff and parents for a strong and reliable school community. “Over these twenty years, Hraunvallaskóli has built a community we can truly be proud of. The school staff were thanked in particular for their professionalism, dedication and daily work on behalf of the students, and the important role of parents and the strong cooperation between home and school was emphasized.

Open house and the results of Inquiry Days

The anniversary program also included speeches by students, musical performances from the musical Grease and an act by Króli. After the program in the hall, an open house was held where parents and students could explore the results of the Inquiry Days and learn more about the school’s activities. Hraunvallaskóli is today a health‑promoting primary school that works systematically toward the wellbeing, health and success of students, staff and the wider community. The school’s twenty‑year history bears witness to ambitious school work and a strong foundation for the future.
