Large vehicles removed from the parking lot at Tjarnarvellir

Owners of large trucks, trailers, buses, unregistered wrecked vehicles and campers in the parking lot at Tjarnarvellir are asked to move them elsewhere. The parking lot is intended for passenger cars only.

But do not despair. To respond to the situation, the town is offering a temporary solution for one year. Operators are given the option to park larger vehicles at Óseyrarbraut 12–14. This is a temporary measure while operators arrange appropriate facilities to store these large vehicles.

But why can they not be parked at Tjarnarvellir? According to the Hafnarfjörður police regulations, it is prohibited to park vehicles with a permitted total weight of 5 tons or more, as well as passenger transport vehicles that may carry 10 passengers or more, on streets or public parking lots. This also applies to general parking areas in residential neighborhoods, unless they are specifically designated for such vehicles.

The town encourages all concerned to respect the current rules and make use of the temporary parking area now being offered.

Óseyrarbraut 12–14. There is plenty of space for the vehicles there.
