Live Music at the Pool Cinema in Sundhöllin

The moment you arrive at the pool you enter another world. You enter a world of adventure, says Hrönn Marinósdóttir, director of the RIFF film festival, which is bringing the festival to Hafnarfjörður next Thursday. On that day the film When Harry Met Sally will come to life in the Sundhöllin swimming pool in cooperation with the Town of Hafnarfjörður.

The film will not only be shown but also performed on the poolside by actors who resemble Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. The music will also be live. The event will be a unique experience on the edges of our Sundhöllin.

Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. It is wonderful and the atmosphere there is truly unique. Guðjón Samúelsson designed the building and it is the perfect place to do something fun for this film, says Hrönn about this pool cinema experience on Thursday 5 February.

This will be the most romantic pool cinema in RIFF history, says Hrönn. The film is fun and beautiful, romantic, with great humor and lovely music. It is an opportunity to do something enjoyable and different in the darkest part of winter, she says, explaining that the experience is completely different from just watching a film.

We found actors who look very much like Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. We have sorted out the costumes. The young man is Bjarni Kristbjörnsson, who looks quite like Billy Crystal. He even had a special haircut to look even more like him. Gúa Margrét Bjarnadóttir will play Meg Ryan. They are excited and she looks incredibly similar to Meg Ryan. The Carmen curls make all the difference.

Hrönn describes how audience members enter a world of wonder in the Sundhöllin. Live music on the poolside, she says. A jazz band that has rehearsed the classic songs will be there, lifting the atmosphere and playing music. And there will be more surprises.

Hrönn says the RIFF team is very excited. Ticket sales have been going well and they intend to respect the special atmosphere of the pool.
