Nostalgia at the culture days in Áslandsskóli

The calm after the storm arrived in Ásland yesterday when the annual culture days at Áslandsskóli took place. What began as a school tradition has over the years developed into one of the largest neighborhood festivals in the area and now plays an important role in the strong school community in Ásland.

Decades – inspiration from different eras of the past

There was great anticipation among students, staff and guests, and the school was full of life, color and creative energy. In the days leading up to the event, students had been working purposefully on a variety of projects, as this year’s theme was “decades.” The result was exceptionally diverse and creative – ranging from visual art and installations to music and stage performance.

Parents and guardians attended in large numbers, many experiencing a pleasant sense of nostalgia as they walked through the school corridors and explored the students’ work, which drew inspiration from different eras of the past. The mayor honored the school with their presence, as tradition dictates, and enjoyed listening to the students’ live and creative performances on stage.

“These culture days clearly show the strength that lies within our school community. Here, children are given the opportunity to flourish, express themselves and work together in creative ways – and at the same time, the network of families and the entire neighborhood is strengthened,” said the mayor.

The culture days of Áslandsskóli are a clear example of the powerful cooperation between school and community, where creativity, togetherness and joy are allowed to shine – and demonstrate how important it is to nurture culture and the arts in school life.
