Registration is now open – Summer recreation for 6-13 year olds

Summer is the time for play

Registration for summer courses run by after-school centers is open from April the 7th, 2025.

The following have been opened for registration:

• Summer recreation for 7 – 9 year olds at all primary schools
• Central summer recreation for 7 – 9 year olds in July and August
• SumarKletturinn for children aged 9 – 13 with special support needs
• Summer recreation for 6 year olds (preschool graduation age group)

Summer recreation for 7-9 year olds

Summer recreational courses are offered in all after-school centers in Hafnarfjörður. Summer recreation includes a diverse program consisting of creative projects, games, exercise, exciting trips, swimming and joint events. The schedule may vary depending on which after-school center is chosen. Courses are available in all after-school centers from June 11th to June 27th.

Courses are offered in the after-school centers at Hvaleyraskóli and Engidalsskóli from June 30th to July the 18th and start again on August the 6th in Hraunvallaskóli and Víðistaðaskóli.

Summer activities for 6 year olds (preschool graduation age group)

From August 6th to 22nd, a varied and constructive summer leisure time is offered in all after-school centers in Hafnarfjörður for children in the preschool graduation age group, 6-year-olds born in 2019.

The courses are similar to traditional summer courses, but great emphasis is placed on outdoor activities, exercise, health and a special emphasis is placed on playing a variety of games. The children will have the opportunity to get to know their after-school centre and the school’s local environment with the aim of increasing their safety and well-being at the beginning of their schooling.
