Joint exhibition by Barbara Glod and Kristberg Ó. Pétursson.

Barbara Glod was born in Kalisz Pomorski, Poland, on December 17, 1962. She studied nursing in Koszalin and Poznan and has a master’s degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse in Poland for several years, but then moved to Iceland in 1992 and has worked since 1994 at LSH both in Fossvogur and Hringbraut.

Barbara has a great interest in art and paints oil paintings, acrylics and watercolors. Over the years, she has been diligent in attending art courses, including at the Kópavogur Art School with Margrét Jónsdóttir, Mími Leisure School with Harpa Björnsdóttir and at the Leisure School with Guðbjörg Lind Jónsdóttir. Barbara has also received private lessons from Kristbergur.

Kristbergur was born in Hafnarfjörður on January 6, 1962. He studied at the Icelandic School of Art and Crafts from 1979 to 1985 and at De Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten from 1985 to 1988. He has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions at home and abroad. His works are in several major art museums in the country and he has received several artist’s salaries.

Ever since Barbara and Kristbergur first met thirteen years ago, they have followed each other’s progress in art and exchanged ideas, suggestions and encouragement. It was sometime in January last year that Kristbergur stopped by Barbara’s for coffee and a chat. As always, their conversation revolved around art. Barbara set up her latest paintings to show Kristbergur. “Shouldn’t we just have an exhibition together?” he asked. Barbara thought it was a good idea and here they are with their works.
