News

In collaboration with the Town of Hafnarfjörður and the Hafnarfjörður School of Work, the Innovation Center warmly welcomes you to the Creative Summer Jobs finale on Tuesday, July 29th, between 15–18.

Youth Showcase Their Summer Work

This summer, a group of young people has worked on a variety of creative projects. On July 29th, they invite the residents of Hafnarfjörður and anyone interested to come meet them and see the projects all gathered in one space. Between 15:00 and 18:00, there will be a special program where the youth present the results of their summer work:

  • 15:00 Opening Remarks: Þorbjörg Signý Ágústsson, coordinator of Creative Summer Jobs, welcomes guests.
  • 15:10 Ómstaður, performed by Una and Kristijonas. Una Mist and Kristijonas Groblys will perform a sound piece for guests using handmade instruments. After the program, they can be found in the Writing Workshop space for a second performance, where guests are welcome to explore the instruments, listen to the music, and chat with the artists.

  • 15:20 Poetry Reading with Iða Ósk. Iða Ósk reads selected poems from her poetry book. After the program, guests will have the opportunity to explore the project and the book further.
  • 15:30 Feelings, presentation of Mirra Hjartardóttir’s project. Mirra will give a short presentation and then invite children and parents to join her at 16:00 in the Experimental Workshop to try out the game briefly before she leads a painting session based on the same themes as the game.
  • 15:40 Book reading with Smári Hannesson. Smári reads from his book Eldar. Guests will have the opportunity to view the first drafts of the book and sign up for the pre-order list after the program.
  • 16:00 Violin performance with Tómas Vigur. Tómas plays some gentle tunes and closes the program with a selection of well-chosen songs.
  • From 16:00 to 18:00, guests are invited to stroll between booths and rooms. Participants of Creative Summer Jobs will welcome guests, chat about their summer achievements and projects, and show interested visitors the results of the past months.

The event is open to everyone, and we encourage the residents of Hafnarfjörður and all guests to attend, support young people in creativity, and enjoy what’s on offer. More creative summer projects will be introduced in the coming week, including those by Rán, Íris, Hanna, and Birta.

Come and celebrate the results of this artistic, educational, and energetic summer with us!
