850 teenagers at the School Festival

850 teenagers enjoyed the evening together in Hafnarfjörður!

Up to 850 teenagers from Hafnarfjörður gathered and had a great time at this year’s School Festival, which was held on the 7th of February.

The evening began with DJ Thekidstm from Hvaleyrarskóli and DJ Younder from Ölduselsskóli, the musicians Aaron Can, Pastor Bjössi and Dj Dóra Júlía kept the good vibes going. Háski, a former student from Hafnarfjörður, came as a surprise guest, and Herra Hnetusmjör was the last to take the stage as the buzz intensified.

The school festival is an event where teenagers from all primary/high schools in Hafnarfjörður come together and have fun! It was held in the Strandgata gymnasium  and lasted until 22:00.

Young people steer the journey

Young people from all the schools in town prepare the festival. They decide on the theme, musical performances and take great pride in the overall atmosphere — and that’s what the pictures show. This year’s theme was Casino and the schools compete annually in a decoration contest. Hraunvallaskóli emerged as this years winner.

The heads of the recreation centres department manage all the work and implement what the young people have requested. Energetic young people then arrange for the evening’s presentation. Andrea L. Hafdal Kristinsdóttir, Elisabeth Rós Sverrisdóttir and Berger Heiðrún Ingólfsdóttir from Setbergsskóli presented the first part of the event, with Elma Rún Jónsdóttir from Áslandsskóli and Embla Guðríður Arnarsdóttir from Öldutúnsskóli taking over from there.
