Allocation of cultural grants – Autumn 2023

Allocation to cultural affairs during the year amounted to ISK 15,500,000.-

Eight projects received funding in the second allocation of Hafnarfjarðarbær’s cultural grants in 2023. The ceremony took place in the historic Bungalow building on the 10th of October. The total amount of grants in this second round of allocations was around ISK 1,205,000.- A total of ISK 15,500,000 has been allocated in cultural grants during the year.

Projects likely to enrich and deepen the town’s culture & art’s scene

The town of Hafnarfjörður has now completed the allocation of cultural grants for 2023. Eight projects received funding this time; individuals, cultural groups or organizations that all share ties to Hafnarfjörður in one way or another. Grants from the Hafnarfjarðarbær Culture and Tourism Committee are awarded twice a year to parties and projects that are likely to enrich and further deepen the town’s culture and art’s scene. The allocation of grants from Hafnarfjarðarbær is based on the evaluation of applications. Cultural events, artists, associations or institutions applying for funding must be connected to Hafnarfjörður in some way. This includes, for example, permanent residence, that an event/project takes place in Hafnarfjörður and/or that a project involves an introduction to Hafnarfjörður’s cultural activities.

These received funding for the autumn allocation of cultural grants 2023:

• Gunnella Hólmarsdóttir, Freyðijól 2023, 150.000 kr.
• Gylfi Ingvarsson, Gaflarakórinn (choir), 170.000 kr.
• Kammerkór Hafnarfjarðar, Söngur fyrir líf og sál (singing for life and the soul, choir) – verkin hans Friðriks, 75.000 kr.
• Harpa Gústavsdóttir, Kveikjum á kærleikanum (Lets light the love), 160.000 kr.
• Heima hjá þér slf. Tælensk menningarhátíð (Thai culture festival), 100.000 kr.
• Kristbergur Óðinn Pétursson, Garðurinn og tíminn (The garden and time), 100.000 kr.
• Lúðrasveit Hafnarfjarðar, Tónleikahald Lúðrasveitar Hafnarfjarðar (marching band concerts) autumn 2023, 150.000 kr.
• Rakel Björk Björnsdóttir, Mæja the strawberry sings with the little ones in Hafnarfjörður, 300.000 kr.
