Bjartir Dagar – Hafnarfjörður´s culture festival has begun

Enjoy a variety of cultural events throughout the month of June

The Bjartir Dagar cultural festival started in Hafnarfjörður on the town’s 116th anniversary this weekend on June the 1st, and will offer various fun events throughout June. The festival reflects the diverse and thriving culture that is carried out by institutions, non-profit organisations, companies and individuals in Hafnarfjörður. All of Bygggðarsafnið´s museum’s open on June the 1st each year, and last week a new exhibition opened at Hafnarborg. This time of year is as well perfect to enjoy the towns swimming pools!

A celebration of summer in Hafnarfjörður

Bjartir dagar is a participatory festival that is carried out by institutions, associations, companies, sports clubs, musicians and individuals participating in creating events all over town that are connected to the festival or participating in programs organized by others. The dynamic and flourishing art scene in Hafnarfjörður has been reflected in the event, Come on in (Gakktu í bæinn). That’s when artists, designers and craftsmen open their studios, on Friday evening June 7th, and welcome guests and pedestrians to visit. There will also be some shops in the town´s center open until the evening hours, where it is ideal to shop for unique design and art in the heart of Hafnarfjörður. Various music events play a large part in the program of Bjartir Dagar this year, as in previous years. There will also be a great amount of sport events in the health town of Hafnarfjörður, but on June the 8th, the Hafnarfjörður Run (Hafnarfjarðarhlaupið) will be held on the streets of the town, thereby joining a small group of running races all across Iceland.
