Fund for the promotion of the music scene in Hafnarfjörður

The Board of Directors of the Friðrik Bjarnason and Guðlaug Pétursdóttir Foundation call for applications, for grants from the fund. The purpose of the fund is to strengthen the music scene in Hafnarfjörður, especially to strengthen the singing scene in the town, and to support students for further studies in music and scholars in music. The deadline for applications is the 1st of November, 2023.

Fund for the promotion of the music scene in Hafnarfjörður

In a will from 1960, the couple, Friðrik Bjarnason and Guðlaug Pétursdóttir, left a large part of their assets to the town of Hafnarfjörður and stipulated that their books and artifacts should be preserved in the library. As well as, that a fund were to be set up to “promote the music scene in Hafnarfjörður in the manner most appropriate at any given time, especially for the promotion of song life in the town” and “sponsor students for further music studies and music scholars”. The grant will be given out on Friðriks birthday on November the 27th.
