Happiness days in Hafnarfjörður!

Happiness days (Hamingju dagar) in Hafnarfjörður are taking place this month. They give us the opportunity to meet joyful people and experts in the field of finding joy. Andri ICELAND will be hosting the “HamingjuStund í Bæjarbíó” event, Mariana Tamayo, Mervi Luoma and Rebecca Thompson will lead the Happiness Plant Walk around Ástjörn, in English and Guðrún Árný will then strike the final note of the month-long happiness days on Monday September the 30th. She leads Happy singing at Hafnarfjörður´s school of music.

All the events are free of charge and everyone is welcome!

Thursday, September the 26th at 17:30, there will be an informative walk around the Ástjörn pond, starting at the sports hall, Ásvellir (main entrance).

Biodiversity in urban areas

“Join us for an hour-long guided hike where the importance of preserving green spaces for both plant and bird communities, as well as for human well-being, will be explored.”

During the walk, participants will learn about:

– The importance of maintaining a network of green spaces throughout the city.

– Edible plants that are easy to recognize and use, along with advice on when and how to collect them in urban areas.

– Management of plant “troubles”.

– Urban birds and their habitats.

The walk will be mostly in English. Whether you’re a seasoned nature lover or just curious about your surroundings, this event offers something for everyone.

Mariana Tamayo, Associate Professor at the University of Iceland, Mervi Luoma Plant Scientist and Rebecca Thompson Urban Ornithologist in collaboration with the Health Town of Hafnarfjörður, lead the Happiness Plant Walk in Hafnarfjörður.
