We are the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður

The autumn and beautiful winter days have been used to prepare for Christmas in Hafnarfjörður. The aim is for the Advent not only to be bright and beautiful, but also very lively and playful for longer than before. The Heart of Hafnarfjörður ice rink opens on Friday the 10th of November and the Christmas village (jólaþorpið) in Hafnarfjörður a week later, on Friday the 17th of November at 5 pm (17:00).

Christmas in Hafnarfjörður will shine brightly

Hafnarfjörður, the christmas town (Jólabærinn) has in recent years stamped itself thoroughly into the hearts and minds of Hafnafjörður´s, tourists and friends, all over the country with the united and good efforts of all; residents, businesses and institutions in every district of the town.

Christmas village, adventurous Hellisgerði park and ice rink

Christmas is steadily moving across Hafnarfjörður and now in October and early November the town´s great staff has worked on the installation of Christmas decorations all over the town and new lights and decorations will be added steadily over the coming days and weeks. The Christmas magazine of Hafnarfjörður will be published in mid-November and, like in the previous three years, will be full of warm material about rewarding and good projects in the town, progressive businesses and the people that make up our town. The Heart of Hafnarfjörður ice rink opens on the 10th of November, the Christmas village in Thorsplan, with all its beautifully decorated Christmas houses and Christmas cheer, opens on Friday the 17th of November, and the Christmas adventure land in Hellisgerði is also in full preparation.

Encouragement to residents and businesses in the town

The days are getting shorter and the time for Christmas lights is about to dawn on for many. The town encourages inhabitants to install their Christmas lights, if they are not already up. The town´s staff are working their way steadily through town and installing lights in public places and open areas. All this is done with the aim of pleasing the eye and Christmas Spirit and promoting positive experiences and enjoyment for those who pass through the town, whether walking, running, cycling or driving.
