Course description
The courses are well organised and have been widely popular. The focus is on safety and feeling comfortable in the water, basic techniques in front crawl and back stroke, as well as swimming pool games. Depending on how the course proceeds more swimming styles are introduced. We are fortunate to be collaborating with the summer work school of Hafnarfjörður, that allows us to employ a solid group of teenagers as assistants. Parents drop off their children in the swimming pool reception where we and our assistants greet the children. The children are accompanied in the changing rooms and to the pool. We start all our courses by teaching the children how the changing rooms work and a teacher greets them by the pool along with other staff. Each lesson is around 40 minutes and when finished our assistants accompany the children through the changing rooms, and parents meet the children again in the reception.
By the time a course is finished we often see great progress. More often than not the children feel adequately safe in the water to swim eight metres or more. Children that complete summer lessons with us are therefore well prepared for school swimming in their first year of school.
