Fjörukráin is the Company of the Year in Hafnarfjörður

Fjörukráin has been named Company of the Year in Hafnarfjörður. The award was presented at a formal ceremony hosted by the Hafnarfjörður Marketing Office on the last day of winter at Hafnarborg. With this recognition, the spotlight is placed on companies that have stood out in strengthening business activity and the character of the town of Hafnarfjörður.

As stated in a news release from the Marketing Office, the award, previously presented under the name Encouragement Award of the Hafnarfjörður Marketing Office, has been awarded annually since 2017. It is given each year to a company that, through its operations, ambition, and contribution, has had a positive impact on the town’s business life and the community as a whole.

Fjörukráin began operations as a small restaurant with a focus on Icelandic cuisine and a Viking theme, where a distinctive atmosphere was central—a true innovation in Iceland at the time. Live entertainment, Viking imagery, a historical setting, and above all good food were key to the restaurant’s success. This uniqueness was developed in a focused manner and became the core of Fjörukráin’s brand identity. For many years, Fjörukráin has been one of Hafnarfjörður’s hallmark establishments, establishing a strong identity among both local residents and visitors. Through robust operations, a clear image, and a memorable experience, the company has been an important part of town life and has contributed to strengthening Hafnarfjörður as an attractive and vibrant destination for both tourists and Icelanders. It is an integral part of Hafnarfjörður’s identity.

In addition to Fjörukráin, Kjötkompaní and the Straumsvík aluminium smelter were nominated for Company of the Year in Hafnarfjörður. All share the common trait of having, in their own way, contributed to strengthening business activity, services, and the community in the town.

At the same event, additional recognitions were also presented. Barbara Kaffibar received the award for Newcomer of the Year in Hafnarfjörður, while special awards of appreciation were given to Burkni flower shop and Nonni Gull for their long-standing and important contributions to business life and the character of Hafnarfjörður.
