Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Efforts and Local Beautification

The Town of Hafnarfjörður invites residents and all interested parties to submit nominations for awards recognizing outstanding contributions to environmental efforts and beautification of the town. These awards may be given to individuals who clean and enhance their surroundings with dedication, as well as to property owners and caretakers of specific areas within Hafnarfjörður. The selection of award recipients is partly based on submitted nominations, and everyone is encouraged to send in nominations through the town’s website by September 1st.

Open to Broader Nominations

For many years, the Environment and Planning Committee has presented awards for beautiful gardens, well-maintained homes, outstanding new buildings, appealing streetscapes, and exemplary commercial properties. This year, as last, nominations are open to a wider range of contributions — because beauty truly exists everywhere: in the environment and, importantly, in the people and their initiatives for environmental care. We welcome diverse nominations highlighting the efforts of individuals and businesses that can inspire others. Many small actions make one big impact.

Nomination Deadline: September 1st

The selection process is partly based on the nominations received. Residents, visitors, employees of local businesses and institutions, and other interested parties are encouraged to point out exemplary efforts in the field of environmental care. Nominations can be submitted via the registration form below or sent by email to: ingibjorgs@hafnarfjordur.is. Awards will be presented at a formal ceremony in Hellisgerði in September.
