The goal is that seniors in Hafnarfjörður can live independently for as long as possible. Social activities, exercise and various support is available.

Day program for seniors

Day program for seniors supports seniors in living in their own homes for as long as possible and decreases social isolation.

Day program in Hrafnista

Hrafnista has 26 day-program spots. The day program is for people 67 years and older.

  • Opening hours are from 9:00–16:00 every weekday.
  • You can stay 2–5 days a week.
  • Driving services are available to and from home.
  • Participants pay a certain daily fee.

Day program in Sólvangur

Sólvangur has 14 spots in general senior day program, and 12 in specialised day program for individuals suffering from dementia. The day program is for people 67 years and older, living in Hafnarfjörður.

  • Opening hours are 9:00–16:00 every weekday.
  • You can stay 1–5 days a week.
  • Driving services are available to and from home.
  • Breakfast, cooked lunch, and afternoon snack is included.
  • Variable program in the form of health promotion and entertainment, social activities, light exercises, and rest area.
  • Participants pay a daily fee.

Day program in Drafnarhús for people with dementia

Drafnarhús has 22 day-program spots. The aim of the program is to maintain the independence of seniors as long as possible by strengthening their physical and intellectual abilities allowing them to live at home for as long as possible. Opening hours are 8:00–16:30 every weekday.

  • Included in the program:
  • Daily health monitoring.
  • Boosting of self-esteem, feelings of sadness and powerlessness are dealt with.
  • Support for loved ones.
  • Quality time.
  • Storytelling and singing.
  • Physical training, walks, and outdoor activities.
  • Activities, such as helping in the kitchen, handcrafts, and candle making.
  • Visits from a priest and a children’s choir.
  • Day trips.
